Warning lights

while on holiday the yellow/orange coil light came on flashing for about 10 mins this went out and we carried on to the next stop, restarted and no lights cane on.. 30 miles down the road the the emissions warning light came on.

Does this sound like the dreaded egr valve.

It could be, but there are other reasons the coil light could come on; you will need to get it plugged into VW diagnostics.

Our coil light came on ours a couple of years ago, and the van went into limp mode. VW assist told me not to drive it, they sent a rescue vehicle out; it did turn out to be the EGR valve.

Is it constant or flashing ?

First the coil came on flashing. Then stopped

Then later the engine management light came on constant
