What's the Star system and licence ?
If serviced by them is the European recovery included?

The Mercedes Benz owned online Service and Software Diagnostic Tool is the Star system, Licences are bought by dealers and Service agents and the Service History of the vehicle is stored on it, I believe, at Mercedes HQ Stuttgart. If you have a Mercedes with european cover and it is serviced and recorded on "Star" than your warranty and cover remains intact. What's the Star system and licence ?

I should have qualified my post, the issue I had was with my localish MB commercial dealer in the Uk.
I've used a MB in Germany to fit specialist suspension struts (Uk dealer refused) receiving amazing service.
This summer whilst driving through France I had a brake issue, arrived at Reims MB at 4.30 Thursday afternoon without hesitation the vehicle was inspected and booked in for repair the following morning to be fixed, technian even suggested a wild camping overnight stop - see picture.

Hi there, SouthdownsWhich dealer are you buying from?
When I had a starting problem in Spain, my UK breakdown had my MB Moho piggy backed to the nearest Merc dealer and I was surprised to find that they had access to a full record of all dealer inspections/repairs to the vehicle since new. At the time, I just assumed that it was all part of the Mercedes service. They did a while you wait (3hour) repair. We relaxed(?) in a purpose designed lounge with an unlimited supply of coffee. The cost was not insignificant, but our treatment reinforced my feelings that the Mercedes brand is one of the best.Great to hear such positive stories for MB after service.
You could have a solid 10+ years of decent two week holidays for the £60k cost of change.@Wondering Star we have a similar dilemma.
We love our free (Merc Fwd), but I would like the 4x4 Canyon or MLT Crossover.
I phoned a dealer last week. £73k low offer I believe for a 2024 van.
The Canyon is £138k….
I’m not sure I’d be getting £60k of extra camping value.
So looks like we will be sticking with the current van, until we retire and have more time to make those numbers work.
Shame, £10-15k I would probably jump into one.
Agree, I reckon I could tour Europe full time for 2-3yrs with the 60 k.You could have a solid 10+ years of decent two week holidays for the £60k cost of change.
I’m a big fan of a bit of basic (camping), interspersed with a bit of luxury (flights/hotels). I think our recent 2 weeks in Portugal for flights/car rental/hotels for 3 of us was < £3k, so you may be looking at 15-20 years (inflation adjusted).
Stick with the current wagon! Scope creep kills finances quicker than my wife’s shoe habit.
