Morning all,

We picked up our new Ocean mid July and, at the time of handover, purchased and paid for the extended warranty, 5yr 80k.

Does anyone know if there is anywhere online that I can check that this has actually been added to our California? I have the We Connect App but can't see any mention of warranty period.

We did receive notice through the post from VW regarding the service agreement number but received nothing so far regarding the warranty.

Maybe it's a case of contacting the service department of my dealer to ask them to check?

If you have documentation you have paid for the 5 year warranty then you have the extended 5 year warranty. Many on here have had the same problem. Hopefully you won’t need to claim.

I had the same thought, and the same lack of any written confirmation. I keep a copy of my invoice showing the extended warranty payment in the California, also showing the 2 free services - just in case I am ever challenged. I also called VW breakdown for confirmation (which they gave against my number plate as ID rather than VIN) that I had the 3 year cover, as, unlike with previous new VW's, this was not confirmed either.

As you say, nothing appears on We Connect. I have not checked with my local VW dealer though.

I rang my dealer a few weeks ago to ask for email ‘proof’ that we had the extended warranty for 5 years and VW assist for 3 years and they agreed to do this but have heard nothing since then - this thread has reminded me to chase it up. I particularly wanted proof of breakdown cover for Europe which I know is included but would feel better if I had a piece of paper!

I had the same issue. My dealer emailed me a copy of their dealer management system which clearly stated the extended warranty details.
 
Never had an issue with claims only documentation on the purchase invoice. Warranty work was carried out at my local dealer rather than where purchased from.
 
I bought my extension from the supplying dealer who gave me a certificate for proof of Purchase. Details of Warranty entitlment are held in Germany on a computor/server called "Elsa".
 
We purchased a MAN TGE last November plus extended warranty and service agreement and like many of you have nothing in writing except the invoice. I have pursued this with MAN but as yet not had anything back from them.
 
Update,

Spoke with someone yesterday from the dealership I bought the california from and they Emailed me a proof of cover certificate with a reference number on it confirming that the 5yr warranty has been added to the VW system.

Yes, this. If you ever call VWCS, then mutter on about Elsa. I did make a claim with my T6 Transporter in the extended period and it was fine, so it does work, albeit without much paperwork.

If you have any vw finance on the vehicle, the online system shows warranty expiry and any remaining paid for services.

We picked up our Cali in Feb'23 and a week or so later the sales person emailed a pdf of the 3 year service pack showing the schedule of cover and what was included with each service. He also sent in the 5 year extended warranty by email with a screenshot of our vehicle details and extended warranty cover period and service plan ID. There is no info stored within my weConnect app which is a pity. Maybe your service department made an oversight and has forgotten to send your details.

Surely it’s in “the system” and your dealer can tell you straight away. What strikes me as rude is that you have to pay for it!. In New Zealand, we get a 5yr/150,000km warranty as standard, including a 12yr (yes, twelve) “corrosion perforation warranty on the body”. I’m not sure what the standard warranty is in the UK, but a Cali is a commercial vehicle at the end of the day, and it should pretty well go forever if maintained!
