I've been working with Comfort today re insurance quote. I have a good offer in place, but when I mentioned the club discount, I was told it did not apply. Am I missing something? I was offered discount for MMM subscription. Any guidance gratefully accepted. Thanks.

Maybe I'm missing something, but assumed that the "home" page reference ...."•10% Saving on Insurance".... was in reference to Comfort. If not, maybe it could be considered for removal. Thx.

Thx Martin. Now I'm clear.

Sorry for any confusion, Comfort are just an advertiser with us and they do not offer any discounts, we did try ...

Thanks

Martin

So to clarify did comfort offer a discount as you are a MMM subscriber?

Just had a great quote for insurance from comfort for my wife and me £253 fully comp with £350 excess, legal cover ,hire car-plus £3000 contents and 10000miles :goodone

I don't "do" discounts,

Please, here are my details, tell me how much to insure the vehicle, don't play games with discounts if I belong to this or that organisation, just quote me fair, up front, no frills, no conditions, straight as it is.

Easy enough to toddle off somewhere else to get a quote, although will not use confused dot com because if an infuriating little robot called Brian comes up to me I will end up spending the rest of my life in the slammer for roboticide.

Fair doo's but I love a good deal,it can be a pain deciphering all the twists and tucks but after 30 years in the motor trade it's in your blood :hello

Re jen's comments, I think that aldi is the place for you. No vouchers, tokens, bogof, stuff for schools, Pyrex dishes, junk mail, big brother type snooping into what you buy, buy x for £y ......

Just goods for sale at a price. How blissfully simple compared to the smokescreen other vendors put up when unsuspecting consumers approach them.

Thrilled with the price of our insurance through Comfort. I was so startled by the quote that any thought of asking for a Club discount went went out of the window. It was a relief as the quote from the VW insurers was exorbitant as I don't have a no claims bonus because my last car was a company fleet car.
I really recommend ringing Comfort if your in the market for insurance.

Has anyone any expirence of making a claim with Comfort Insurance esp with reference to cost of renewal the year following a claim - with other firms you know where you are re protection of your NCB. :thanks

My mother in law had an incident with her autosleeper trident last year when she got it wedged under a low roof. Renewal was about £40 more this year as a result so not bad I thought

Yes, we are at the moment after an argument with a bollard in Santander.

So far very good.
I assumed they would have their own preferred repairer but they said I can take the van wherever I want to get it sorted.
Got an estimate from our local guy who is excellent, took photos of the damage and emailed it all off. Reply within half and hour saying it had been sent to the engineer for authorisation.
Will have to see what effect it has on the NCB/cost at renewal in August.
Fingers crossed all goes well.
Incidentally, I'm sure that the side bar prevented it from being any worse

Quick update.
Just got an email from the repairer to say that he now has authorisation to go ahead so the van is booked in for next Monday.
Aviva authorised the repair at their preferred garage on the same day I reported it, June 17th but it has taken them until today to sort it with the guy I want to do the work. Had to email them four times with the estimate as they kept losing it so not very good service in that respect.
As it happens we have been using the van for prebooked trips so not too bothered but would have been pretty annoyed if it hadn't been driveable.

It looks like Comfort won't be getting our business this year.
I expected the premium to go up after my bump which it did by about £20 to £285 which seemed reasonable. However when I asked for it to be based on 10k miles rather than 6k it shot up to £378 which I consider to be a lot so shopped around.
Same cover with Admiral quoted at £238 and as the other half has the Yeti with them this came down to £210 under the Multicar offer.

just had my renewal today £310 .and thats with all my mods .the only company that would insure my calie . :thumb .but £368 with euro cover ..mate broke down on are way to lemans classic this year .its a must to have this cover .i did learn that your not covered on pay roads .you must pay to be towed off then the cover starts .after you paid to be taken off pay rd .

That is very reasonable price Martin, given it has a lot of mods !

They would not insure me as it is my only vehicle.

just renewd insurance with comfort .no club discount .only mmm discount if your a new account holder .came to £360 with euro cover .as these were the only company that would insure my modified camper not to bad .

£355 for our renewal (no breakdown; we have cover); seems okay to me.
The Cali has been by far the most expensive vehicle we've bought yet the cheapest to insure!

£342 for mine with unlimited mileage.

I got another quote, from a company that specialises in leisure vehicle insurance, that was £45 cheaper ...

Until it included a "new customer discount based on premium net of legal cover, based on limited european mileage, only 10,000 miles.... anything over considered commercial use ...

Apart from that every time I have spoken to comfort they have been so helpful and nice to deal with, I thought that alone was worth the £20 that the "savings" eventually netted down to.

I got a competitive quote from Comfort but was put off when I read this policy condition relating to use in Europe.

In addition to the minimum cover, full cover as
described by your policy applies in all countries as
demned in the Territorial Limits provided:

• your motor caravan is kept in Great Britain,
Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the
Isle of Man
• use of your motor caravan for visits to countries
outside Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the
Channel Islands and the Isle of Man is not of a
permanent nature
the vehicle remains in your custody or control.
If for any reason your vehicle will not be within
your custody or control for a period in excess
of 36 hours, then you must notify Comfort
Insurance in advance. Please refer to Section
I of this policy for information on security of
stored vehicles.

Spoke to Comfort re this and they confirmed if I was away from my van for more than a day and a half it would not be insured unless in a the van was parked in a "secure" car park. So for example, if I was in the alps and wanted to do a 2 day hike with a stay in the mountains I would have to find a "secure" car park as defined in the policy to be covered.

In the end I went with Swinton / Safeguard, only £20 more.
