Interesting chat today whilst renewing California Insurance with Comfort .
Apparently the club discount now only applies to New Policies and Not renewals .

I still went ahead with Comfort as I was happy enough with price at just below £300 , but maybe someone from admin could enquire with Comfort as to current situation ?

As a footnote LV were actually cheaper at £260 , but I preferred to be loyal to the insurer who had supported our club/forum .

Be interested to see if anyone else has been told the same on renewal ?

Yeah… I’m pretty sure i was told the same back in June.

Loyal insurance company.
Comfort have given insurance to owners at a good rate, and as far as I know, there have been no complaints about the service they offer. I've found them very easy to deal with each year when I renew my policy, but obviously the crunch comes when you come to make a claim.
So although when I first read the concept of being "loyal to an insurance company", a little difficult to swallow, I suppose I have been a loyal client to them.

Not sure how supportive they are of our club, if there’s only a 5% discount for new business and it’s still more expensive than LV.
Btw Safeguard gives members 12 months for the price of 10.
LV are a big firm with good cover, I think I’ll vote with my wallet.

I would want to understand fully that any other insurer (such as LV) cover the camping aspect of the vehicle too, ie the kitchen etc.
Whilst I would agree that I am not sure how Comfort “supports” the forum they do offer the correct cover for the camper van as a complete package, and in my experience at a reasonable price too.

Yes I’ve spoken to them - they know what they’re insuring. I don’t see the value in Comfort (but until you try and claim you never know)

Aren't companies like Comfort brokers, not insurers? You could be with a different insurer every year. It's their job to make sure that you get the best deal going for your particular needs and, being specialists, they should have a good understanding of the market and get you what you need, as well as dealing efficiently with any claims if requested.
In my motorhome days I was with Comfort for years until they priced themselves out of my target premium range. I never had a claim.

My Comfort policy is underwritten by Aviva

I’m arranging my new insurance right now, and had a call with Comfort. They have suspended CC VIP discount for now, but “may look at this later in the year”.

Absolute cheek, seeing how much they saved in claims over the last 2 years.
