I’m still amazed the control panel has a physical sticky out knob. Obviously the feedback of 16 years of failed / kicked / banged knobs hasn’t reached the design department yet.

I’m still a fan of analogue controls, but they are being lost in every other area of car design. This is the first place I would have made flush and butt / boot proof.

If it is just " Push to Select " rather than " Turn to Select Menu Item, then Push to Select " then should be more robust and less prone to damage.
