VW Specialist California Dealers - Unless you know differently.

What is being lost in the emerging debate, is the need for VW to actually establish one or two true centres of excellence for the Cali, and perhaps make that expertise available to the wider network. It seems the current response to any fault is to email Germany, and then to damage / dirty various parts of your Cali as they work their way down a list of parts they've been told could be at fault.

Having a trip advisor type section full of horror stories at every dealership may encourage vw to do something about the awful service offered in the UK.

Just so you can get an idea of what it will look like, here is another forum using the add on ( this one is for reviewing schools) http://www.filmschool.org/filmschools/

As you can see, it is not much different to what we have now on the forum, the main difference being it is much easier to search and find the information you are looking for.

Sentiments that I wholly agree with and could well dispel my own reservations.

This seems like a reasonable way to allow people to add reviews of dealers - I would most likely look at it even though I think that there are some reasonable points being made on this thread about the usefulness or otherwise of a review system.

What about a right of reply for the dealers?

The Link I originally supplied showed a Page copied from The VW Commercials site. In fact it was an interactive Map. I cannot find this page any longer on the VW site and I remember a posting , I think on the " Roof Corrosion " thread that mentioned VW were going to establish a number of California Specialist Dealerships.

Without taking a view on whether a ranking system is a good idea, I would say VW's 'official' list is here:
www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/find-a-van-centre

Use the 'Refine' to choose 'Stocks Camper Vans' and 'Servicing'. The list for my area lines up pretty well with the dealers I'd consider using. There is no selection for 'Services Camper Vans' but when I was looking for somewhere to service my whole van front and back VWCS implied that the list would be the same. VW were calling these Lifestyle Centres but this term may have been removed from VW's marketing now

When I first started researching I called into the Bristol dealership because I was working down there. The salesman claimed that VW was in the process of reducing the number of dealers that would be able to sell the Cali to just 6 for the whole of England. Nothing seems to have happened though.
