Roof question

Hi,

hope someone can help. We have a California SE 2015. We have noticed an error appearing in console Error 1000. We have cleared it by resetting the console, but for longevity we took it to the garage. They did:
diagnostics check on it and reset,
opened closed several times
no error

he said drive it around to confirm its fixed.

they mentioned that the roof must have been Retro fitted as console couldn’t detect roof.

my missus Who spoke to guy just trusted everything he said and now I’m scratching my head wondering what the f i just paid for.

so question, I don’t believe our roof was retro fitted, is there anyway to find out?
From my perspective I would assume the garage would at least check sensor and/or wiring to ensure no damage. Am I being naive?

Think you need to clarify “retro fitted”.
If you have an Ocean it comes with electro/hydraulic roof, so would not need a retro fit. Or do you have a non VW conversion that has had a California roof fitted?
Was it a VW Dealer that you went to? Being diplomatic, not all are that good when it comes to the California.

Thanks for feedback. def not non VW absolutely no idea why he suggesting that. It’s California T5 SE so as far as I am aware it is equivalent of ocean just pre labelling as such. It was a VW specialist but so far he’s been asked to fix airbag light and now roof light and solution has been similar to that of 1st line IT Helpdesk.

I’m still intrigued why the analysis was so light.

Sounds like the guy didn't know what type of van you had.

I think that Error is the roof sensors.
