Privay Glass - Cali SE (is it available, or not?)

Hi all

Just looking to pull together a final list of must haves to include in an order for a new 180 SE (final version still to be determined) and would like Privacy Glass, but brochure suggests you can and can't have it with the SE. As part of the Camping Pack it appears to be available, but not on its own.

I called VW's 0800 help line and was advised (after a fair bit of searching for an answer) that it isn't an option on the SE due to the windows being double glazed.

I have seen another thread re mistakes in the brochure and wondered whether anyone has actually managed to order and take delivery of an SE with it included?

Clarification appreciated.

I've had my SE for 3 weeks now and that has privacy glass.

Yes it is available for the SE the current brochure has a typo in it and privacy glass, which replaces the double glazing, is an option as it is, and for the same cost, for the Cali Beach.

Had submitted an online query to VW and received a phone call from them Monday (23rd Sept 13).

Not sure many of the dealers realise it is not listed in the current (July 13) brochure. The same issue also affects the Drive the Deal pricing as it is not listed as one of the available options on that site.

I have started a thread to see if any other typos have been spotted.

Its a pretty confusing situation based on the discussion I had with VW who seemed confident that Privacy Glass couldn't be had on the SE.

I am also now starting to confuse myself and just to check my understanding on an SE the double glazing comes as standard, however instead I could choose Privacy Glass, but I can't have them both. If I want just Privacy Glass then I have to pay extra.

Again help appreciated as keen to have all my ducks lined up before I visit a dealership to negotiate

Hello, mine is a 2013 63 plate standard spec 140bhp SE with privacy glass, front & rear parking sensors and black awning.

Love it loads

It does seem a shame the double glazing cannot be had with privacy glass as one of the layers. There does seem to be some good things said about window tinting, where a tinted film is applied to the window, and indeed the first dealer I approached did offer this as an option after finding the brochure discrepancy. However it just did not sound right having to do this and that's what led to my questioning VW.

I'd be surprised if this is genuinely the case... Even my 2009 has privacy glass and double glazing.

It's a mistake, Double Glazing is standard, privacy glass is available as an option.

Maybe place your order with one of the specialists on here who can advise you properly.

Or even Drive the Deal have the options listed correctly

Hi,
Our 2011 Cali, 180, has tinted all round (except drivers/passengers windows of course) and double glazing only to rear screen and rear glass by sliding door - oh yes and the glass that backs onto the cupboards. Sliding window sections can't be double glazed.
When we ordered ours it was a clear and separate option. The camping pack did not exist.
