T6 VW California Delays

Ordered 5 Sep with original provisional build week 49. Shortly afterwards this moved forward to week 47, but then slipped to week 48 after I made a couple of minor changes to options.
Now confirmed as status 20 for build week 48:bananadance2

With Christmas and New Year potentially complicating delivery I am hoping it will be in my hands by mid January :)
Good news!

We've got a yellow T6 again. Like having a long list family member return. Feels great. The kids were so excited to see the van.
We've loved playing with the extra 2 swivel seats. Already taken our three and a couple of friends out to a bonfire party in it. The beach is SO versatile. The extra seats raise it's game to another level for us.
Also loving the electric slide door. I know, I know! It'll probably go wrong/break etc, but that's what 5 year warranties are for.
DSG is fun but takes a little getting used after years of manual driving.

Still think this is an awesome colour - really nice photo. Glad you've got a Cali back!

Not spec-ing the electric sliding door is a bit of a regret for me - I can think of plenty of occasions it'll be useful - probably worth the hassle.

Had the call yesterday to say our Indium Grey Ocean has arrived (you might have seen it before me) - Roll on Wednesday!

Loving the T6 YLW plate. These T6 plates are dead cheap aren't they?

By the way anyone with a White 17my can get this plate for £500!!!

Once you have had DSG you will never go back to manual.

Got that for my last van and liked it so much I retained it. It only cost £138 a year ago. Used to be quite judgemental about private plates but the camper vans have the character that definitely justifies them in my eyes.

That's really exciting! Didn't see you Grey beauty but I suppose I was blinded by the excitement of picking mine up. If I'm passing by I may keep an eye out for yours!

Also interesting (for the Cali obsessed) that this time my van came with a drivers door bin. Nice little bonus.

That door bin is almost next to useless. I've installed a bigger bin for when we are camping.
I bet you pop kids balloons don't you? Haha.
I know it's tiny and not good for camping but for day to day use it's better than nothing. Would rather have one than not. :)

Sorry. Didn't mean to extinguish your bonfire (especially not tonight!!)

Of course you are right it's handy for an apple core or sweet wrapper. And as you say better than chucking stuff straight into the door "pocket".

In this day and age we have to grateful for "small" free extras such as the bin.

I thought that cup holder bin in the back was tiny too!

I'm with you on that. I almost apologise and launch into an explanation about it being fine on a camper van.

Very odd .. worked against me in a way though because I wanted to revise the spec at the end of Sept and it wouldn't let me as it had a confirmed build date .. I thought I'd have had loads of time.
Is your spec fairly straight forward? Your vans lead time appears unusually short.

Good news (with a little bit of bad news thrown in for good measure) ... Drum roll .... our van is possibly going to be here before Christmas!

We ordered on 12 Sept, and had a build date of Wk48.

At the weekend my husband was looking at the spec, and realised that our dealer had ordered the wrong wheels (we wanted some black ones, though personally I was a bit disappointed that the ones we ordered were mainly silver with a bit of black - the completely black ones were obscenely expensive). Anyway, having shelled out £600 for different wheels, we wanted to make sure we got the right ones, so Steve emailed the dealer last night.

He got a phone call today to say the dealer had been unable to get onto the VW scheduling/ordering system and they couldn't understand why, so had phoned the factory direct, only to be told it was too late to change the order because it's already a week into its build! Yay!

So, good news that our Cali is coming early (our beloved caravan sold really quickly, and we're not coping very well with being housebound at the moment), and bad news that we've basically paid £600 for wheels which we don't really want. Hey ho, I'll have to get them sprayed black, which will hopefully give me the wheels I wanted anyway.

Isn't it amazing how blasé you can get about £600 when you're wondering where you going to find £50k from to pay for a van? Yikes!

Great news. Not sure which wheels you've ordered. Sounds like the Cascavels of which there are three types.
With a bit of luck you will find someone who wants them anyway and be able to sort it.

Oh dear, I'm being a bit female here aren't I?! I don't know exactly what they were - my beloved chose them. I'm more of a cushions gal (of which I have already bought several as I think the inside of the van is way too masculine! Twinkly lights are not being ruled out but don't tell my husband).

Latest update from the dealer, build now week 8, moved back from week 50.

Ordered end of July.

Oh no poor you! I've no idea why I seem to have jumped the queue. Must the spec I suppose. We didn't go for many extras, and ordered the 150 manual engine. Perhaps it's easy for them to make a builder's van with beds than all the whizzy stuff.

That pushes you into late March/early April delivery? :Nailbiting:Nailbiting time in order to avoid new VED rates. :sad
