What have you bought for your Cali today :-)

I was just getting the popcorn out

What intrigues me is how smart these bears are in Northern Europe that you need a special lock for the Cali to protect against them.

Many years ago I did some hiking in Canada and had to carry my food in a bear canister. I’ve also heard of hikers in Bulgaria carrying a bear grenade to scare off an aggressive bear. This is a whole new level of ursine sophistication that is completely new to me!

With my TUV load rated wheels of course.
Yes, go on. See what you would do with someone like Welshgas against you. Actually: what would you do? Get out of here? Leave all of this because as great as this forum can be, it can be a struggle when you have to defend your own choices against someone else.

So now you are making fun of the name. Well, have fun.

I think he (and I) are just trying to add some levity to the conversation. It’s a very English thing to do in conflict situations.

Some people just want to be seen to be right all the time, I wouldn’t let it get under your skin.

OK, fair enough: I'm not English and even though I've been to your island several times, I'm regularly surprised by reactions here. For now I just don't think it is necessary for some people to react this way, but unfortunately I have nothing to say about it. Whether I care depends on my mood. You guys keep on going having fun, I'm going to have another enjoyable day tomorrow with my California (with bearlock). Oh and during the Easter holidays I might cross over to the United Kingdom and visit the area around Blackpool. Never been there. At the beginning of July I will visit Camper Jam (4th time). So you see: there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

As someone once advised me ‘kill them with love’

Don’t take my irreverent comments to heart. They weren’t directed at anyone.

Just an observation on the conversation as a whole.

Blackpool. Good god man, don’t.
There are 600 million other delights on the Island to view and enjoy ;)

Thank @WelshGas for that. I do can an may and will post here. I don’t need Welshgas’ nagging.
He is the poster of almost 24,500 posts, the majority of which are simply imposing his sameness on others. He does not have much more information than others here, but many regard him as a beacon of knowledge. I'm not going to let myself be bullied again like others have done before. Let's all side with him again.
I just wanted to report that I had a bearlock placed and that is the trigger for him to impose his right on me again. What a guy!
I still need that button…

Yesterday I stumbled across LoRa Meshtastic devices - exceptionally cheap, low power-cost long range radio chipsets that create mesh of relays. Once bluetoothed to your phone using your Meshtastic chipset, your messages can relay between other redvices to someone without any network, data, etc.

Just in the midst of printing some 3D-print cases for them, and going to get one setup in the van as a permanent relay, hooked up to the 12v, with the solar panels providing a constant charge.

Perfect for when theres sod all signal at camp sites and want to message the mrs - but equally for when the end of the world happens, and I realise I was a closet prepper all along. :D

A bit of fun, but might actually be interesting to use!
this is excellent, thanks for bringing that up, going to start building for the festivals this year!

As it should be unless both sets of keys are on the same key rack at home. :thumb
Key rack! Sacrilege, need a metal biscuit tin, aka a faraday pouch. Or a safe, fake custard tin. Etc etc.

To get this thread back on track (or nearly!) over the past week I've bought a Nextbase 622GW dashcam bundle and a Trutrak GV57MG tracker with proximity tags.

Both ready for fitting to our Cali Ocean when we collect it on the 8th March.

No insurance requirement for a tracker but for £94 and with low cost monthly subscriptions, it probably makes sense to have one. If the vehicle is started or moved without one of the proximity tags being present, it will send out an alert by push message to my phone and via email.
Very impressed with the tracker and support from the supplier after testing it on my car this week.

‘back in track’? I posted what I’ve bought and mister know it all doesn’t like it. I didn’t bring it ‘off track’.

You just can’t stop.
It's as crazy as saying you can't carry your car keys with you because people might steal them, come on. Your nonsense even made ThomasHJ doubt himself. And a mechanical lock for the gearbox does make sense, you can certainly start a California without a key and luckily then there is still the gearbox lock. Any other electronic system can be bypassed just as mechanical ones can be broken; Nothing is glorifying above the other. But you know what: gloat about what you caused again. Enjoy it because I don't think there's much else to enjoy for you considering your thousands of posts.
But you can have the last word because you want that so much; that's what you strive for. And often with me, it's a bit sad, you really can't pick anyone else? Is it because I'm from Belgium? There has to be a reason, right?

:D yes, I already saw beautiful places on your island, I really did, but I am intrigued by Blackpool and apparently the surroundings are beautiful: the Forest of Bowland and Lytham I already received as a tip. After that I can remove Blackpool from my places to visit in the UK; but now I'm really going off topic ;)
