Just like to say hello.
We've had splitscreen buses for the best part of 20 years.
That love affair has ended, the kids have grew and the wife and I
have decided we need to see more in a slightly more comfortable
(and a little faster) way. We've decided a California is the only way so
the hunt is on. Not new to T5's though. Bought one new in '04 and
It still does me proud to this day.
We're based in north Devon and are keen to explore the highlands, the lakes
Northumberland and all the other beautiful places in the uk that were just
a little too far in our old bus.

Hello from another Newbie,

We still love the 'retro' thing too but speed, comfort and safety are now on the list as well. We used to spend most of our weekends nr Croyde, Woolacombe and so on in our custom T3 Westy but we're vanless at the mo

We moved on from a 1964 split screen to a T5 California and haven't looked back.

The amount of space in comparison is incredible.

Simon

Last bus was a 71 early bay westy ,but can't fault the Cali overall fir all the points you made and more ;-)

 well.....the title 'speeding up' came true......
After looking in all the usual places,we popped into our local dealership to see if they had any part ex's in. No such luck. As we came out we wandered across to the audi forecourt.....we'd had it the second we took the test drive.... :thumb got an A5 sports coupe instead..  oh well....the highlands will still be there in a few years.... :smile

We have just gone thro a similar experience , after 15 years of spliity ownership we decided that we couldn't cover the required amount of miles in a weekend.
Living in yorks and loving Devon /France etc ,getting there in the splitty was always a challenge even with a a big motor in it. (67 SO42--2160cc)
We haven't had chance to camp in the Cali yet as we only got it 2 weeks ago , so we are looking forwards to it. :cool

You having a westy for 15 yrs and myself having a westy flipseat and other buses all those years our paths must have crossed.
