Hi, we are not using the Cali for the next 4 weeks or so , so it’s going in the garage . My question is, would you leave the fridge door wide open or leave it shut?. I’m thinking it’ll be good to air it …….

Open.

Closed after cleaning and drying. Never had issues over last 8 years.

After trips, clean and dry out then leave open. Though as I use the van regularly / weekly and often forget the fridge is open, until the annoying rattle starts. I think I’ll adopt one of the suggestions posted … piece of foam tubing, dissected and placed over lid rim. Thus, stays open and no rattle. Good idea, thanks for that.

We have a silicone tablemat/potmat that we just put put over so it leaves a small gap. Because it’s silicone it doesn’t slip out. When the fridge’s off it gets used and is always on the top, so nothing to lose. Stays like that even when we’re driving with an empty fridge, but we have an IKEA table runner that fits perfectly over the glass worktops and a couple of Lakeland cork table mats at the fridge end. Just slides to the right when we want to get in to the fridge.

Big Ted makes several useful bits - I scanned through this string and bought, fridge spacers
washing line bars, internal hooks etc.

He does some great brackets so you can hang Ikea Sunnersta hanging rails and accessories above the worktop in an Ocean. Two rails fit perfectly from the wardrobe to over the sink. The rail stays up all the time but when we drive the accessories easily detach. On saying that though, there’s been times when we’ve forgotten and it’s been fine.

It's what the sink plug is for. Take it out of the sink and pop it under the edge of your fridge lid to hold it slightly open without putting strain on the hinges. Bonus is you'll always know where to find it!

sorry to say but ours both broke after only half a year. I now have them in stainless steel with felt on it. Maybe you'll have better luck with it.

Open definitely. Unless you like a stinky fridge.

I’m not sure what the tea towels and other accessories being mentioned here are for however. Why not just have it open?

We just leave a folded tea towel in it once the fridge has been cleaned and dried.
