My passenger door handle opened my passenger door but the lock stayed open, so I couldn’t shut the door, it kept bouncing back open.
The fix was: push and hold the door closed, then turn the key in the lock to lock the door. This kept the door shut.
Tried it again today, had to! As needed fuel.
And it’s working as normal ?
It’s in VWCV a week on Monday.
Any ideas on how they can stop this happening?
Any updates or recalls for this issue ?

There was a recall last year for the release cables in the front doors. Maybe related?
OR
Maybe mechanism affected by the severe cold weather?

Thanks GG, I’ll ask if the recall has been done.
Bizarre if the -5 weather caused just one side.
I’d have thought both sides would be affected.
And they test them down to -35 c on the tundra, so shouldn’t happen in -5

My sliding door was not running as smoothly at <-5C. My guess is that the cold is affecting how the moving parts run against eachother. When temp hit 0C it was back to normal

Happened to us on various cars - always in freezing weather. PTFE lube tends to work okay.
Funnily enough, lube was on sale at Superdrug yesterday.
But I’ll ask the garage to get in from behind and spray some ptfe lube in on the sliding mechanism
