Auxiliary battery - Replace both at the same time?

My 2008 Cali still has it's original Varta auxiliary batteries. I think they're due to be replaced.

I ordered a pair from Alpha batteries on Wednesday + £169 delivered - arrived today, but not fitted them yet, but I intend to replace both when I get around to it (probably next week).

I would recommend charging them both up manually (preferably with a smart charger) before installing them so when you install them they have the same voltage. This will ensure even efficient charging, use and prelong battery life.
