Bit of help and suggestions need:

While fitting the side awning back on after a winters rest , I managed to drop it and shatter the plastic end cover and some of the internal mechanism ,

Is it just a case of take it back to the VW dealer for source and repair ?

Anyone had a similar experience with a damaged awning ?

VW Do the End Cap but not the End Plate that sits beneath it...

Had experience of this when two separate awnings were dropped by dealers/repair shops.

Ended up with entire awning replacement

That being said, the parts are available fairly cheaply direct from Omnistor. The Awning is a 5102.

There is a parts guide in the downloads section along with price list.

Unfortunately the price list doesn't cover most of the 5102 parts... including the End Plate and End Cap that are what's likely to be needed in this case.

Infact looking at it, I'm not sure it has the prices for any of the Cali awning parts, suspect it's for a different model (2000) but may give a ballpark view as to what you can expect.

It goes in the slot in the awning rail... Pushes in with the "flap" upper most to prevent water coming down behind the awning itself.

A bit like the yellow bit on the diag below.. apologies for the dodgy drawing :)

Thanks for all the help now just gotta source the spares

I had a fiamma factory fitted awning on my cali !!!!!!!!

Interesting... What year was it John... they were certainly fitting Omnistors by 2009?

Also, they are all fitted at the dealers/docks anyway as far as I know... Less problems with shipping them attatched as they tend to get caught, broken or stolen. (Trust me... I know this all too well :) )

yes fitted at dealers, 2006 as it says on my info, find your posts very informative and interesting

John

Thanks John, I find it fascinating how things changed over the years. Sometime very small changes, but this is what makes older VW's fun.

We got our spare winder handle for Rose Awnings, they also sell all the parts and most are kept in stock.
