Smaller frame for bikerack

I got the original 4 pax tailgate rack with my Cali. Does any know if it is possible to change the frame (where the bikes stands on) from 4 to 2 bikes?

Well not sure I fully understand but if you have the standard Cali rack you can take off 2 wheel rails and 1 frame fixing arm. Then you can only fit 2 bikes on but don't see much advantage?

I suspect the OP would like a smaller frame with two rails, hence less overhang when carrying just two bikes. It's something that's crossed my mind but it's not as simple as just cutting down the existing frame due to its tapered design.

Exactly my wish ;-) It would be quite easy to change the frame, if it was an option to own a 2 and 4 bike frame.
