Porta Potti 335 and Dunelm ottoman

We have just bought both of the above. Obviously we made the newbie error of putting the 335 into the box and then fighting to remove it when required.

We now see that the ideal solution is to place the box upside down on it with the lid effectively on top of the box.

However, we were hoping this would travel under the rear parcel shelf but the 335, in box or with box on top only fits under the shelf without the ottoman lid.

Has this always been the case or have the dimensions of the Ottoman changed over time. It's only a cm or two but enough to mean we have to find somewhere to store the lid. I know, first world problems...
