About to order an Austrian Beach Edition 2.0 TDI BMT 4MOTION 103KW/140PS EU import to Belgium.

+ Premium pakket = 3 zone Climatronic, MFSW, Premium Bluetooth, Cruise control, Light un Sight pack, Mist lights, Xenon, RNS 510 , Parking sensors
+ 2 extra seats
+ heating
+ door close aid, ...

I need advise on these options:
1. 230v hook up. I think it's expensive. Can I charge the battery with a regular cheap battery charger which I connect to the hookup for less money?
2. Acoustic pack. Worth it? Disadvantages? Incompatible with sliding window on the right?

Not sure of the options on the Beach but you don't mention privacy glass. For us that was a must have.

Yes, it's standard on Beach Edition. Not sure it is compatible with privacy glass though.

I would order with, tow prep kit too. Its expense and awkward to retro fit should you ever want to use a trailer or towbar bike rack.

If I recall correctly, it's standard on Beach Edition as well in Austria

Tow Prep is NOT standard in the UK. Having just got a 6 month old beach it's still an optional extra that mine didn't come with.

But UK doesn't even have "beach edition".
Anyway I did not list all options I choose. I started the topic to get some opinions on 230v hook up and accoustic glass

Zeratul, the beach IS available in the UK.

And 230 hookup is standard. And well worth it in my opinion.

Given that tow bar prep isn't standard here, I'd check all the things you believe are standard are actually standard in the country you expect to purchase in - just to be sure.

We have the acoustic glass option but found the tint was pretty see through, so we had an aftermarket privacy tint added. This is well worth it in my opinion.

Don't mean to be rude.. but Beach and Beach edition are two different configurations. I understand the name can be confusing if you never heard of the "edition" editions.

Also, default configuration is very dependent on the country you buy it in. Beach edition from Germany is different compared to Austria. I myself live in Belgium and we do not have a beach edition here, I am considering a EU-import from Austria through one of the German specialised companies. It seems worth it.

Yes I have done that. It took a lot of time to compare and translate all the option lists side by side. Biggest difference was climatic airco which is standard in Austria.

Thank you. How much did that cost you?

1) How much is 'expensive'? In the UK 230v hookup went from not being available at all on a Beach to being part of the standard spec. My 2012 Beach did not have hookup as standard but I have added it myself using an external socket, distribution/fuse box and CTEK 'smart' charger linked to the leisure battery (can be manually swapped over to main battery) . The components to buy were probably in the region of £200. You would need to add fitting costs if you dont feel confident in doing it yourself. There is a thread on fitting hookup in the Beach section of this forum.

2) Cant help here as not familiar with the Acoustic pack.

Hi there, fellow Belgian,
just ordered my beach today. How did you add those edition looks? Bought stickers somewhere?

Yes you can find them on ebay, you can' t order in a VW dealer unless you own an edetion

It looks really great on a white one. Also the B-pillar, is that a sticker as well?
Easy to attach?

And another question: where did you have your remap done to 179hp?
Happy with it? I was considering a 84hp to 179hp remap, until I decided I really want 4MOTION. So I ended up with 140hp which makes the remap less important, but I'm still thinking about it.

Sorry for the late reply, the B pilar are also vinyl stickers. The remap was done in Holland made to measure.
