Music Festivals?

Hi Fin, Music and Beer....can't be bad!! Our Silver Cali will be at SFF.

Hi,

Ours is a silver California as well. We've been to SFF for a couple of years now, this'll be our third visit, great festival and great location, we fancied a change from Towersey where we'd been going for a few years. We'll have to arrange to meet up and have a beer. The onsite marquee bar is usually good for a decent selection of beers and cider.

We've done SFF since it started; and Bridgenorth prior to that. We have been in groups as large as twenty odd and currently there are 5 of us who go. When we first started attending we used to take a small off licence with us; now we just kitty up and hit the various bars on site!! Sunday afternoon is usually reserved for a sortie into Shrewsbury itself for some cracking pubs and beers. We have also been known to listen to some music!! This years line up looks the best for a few years.

just booked v festival weekend tickets at hylands with campervan pass - the new calis first festival

We've done The Big Chill several times and Festinho in our California over the last couple of years... Always great to festival in a camper van... Valuables are safely locked away when enjoying the bands, fresh coffee and FRESH (not tent roasted off!) milk when you wake up and best of all chilled white wine, beer, cider all weekend... I've found the battery usually does about 3 days of a festival, and have now convinced my better half on the merits of keeping the drinks chilled rather than the food in the fridge ! :clap

Have to say I enjoy the cilled food and am happy with beer that is cool....better still straight from the barrel. Shani though likes white wine!

Upton booked! I lived there as a teenager many years ago before the days of the Festival, so sort of going back home for a few days. The music mostly looks as though it will take us back to those days too! C

We have been to Shrewsbury FF several times but will be abroad this year, otherwise we'd be there. You'll need a tankard to sample the great real ales and farm ciders on sale (a couple of years ago they had a Llantwit Major cider at 11.5% - good stuff!) but one stall that's always there sells second-hand and new pewter tankards plus handy leather straps to anchor them to your belt while listening to the acts.

Don't miss the Morris and Clog Dancers - skillful and good entertainment, especially if the Black Pig side are performing! :thumb

British traditional music and dance at its best, in a great part of the country too.

So far we have managed to sample a huge selection of beers and ciders, hic, but made do with the plastic on offer!! Not sure what benefit a tankard would have but willing to be converted. We always forego Sunday afternoon on site for a crawl around Shrewsbury itself; some cracking pubs!

Our aim is generally pretty good but sometimes its a dilema to go for the Morris dancers or the banjo player!! ;)

WOMAD this weekend, anyone else going?

We also went to Truck last weekend a small 5,000 or so music festival in South Oxfordshire, saw plenty of classic VW vans and a few of the bongo's (love them!) but didn't see any California's other than us.

Shrewsbury Folk Gestival was a blast, despite the weather!! Nice to meet Fin and Isa Neal.

Great to meet with you as well Iain! I also thoroughly enjoyed Shrewsbury as well, great festival, good access and decent line-up. Bromyard is the last of the summer festivals for me, a week on Friday.

If anybody is interested, Towersey Fringe on the 27th August is a free family friendly festival. Location Towersey village near Thame.
