Tricky to answer without a better idea of location or amount of time... A lot of campsites are shutting for the winter now as well.

Given the rain recently, I'd look for somewhere with hardstanding pitches. Just keeps life a bit cleaner.

If you are looking for immaculate campsites, try the camping and caravan club sites. They have campsites all over the place. I've used their sites in the Mendips and the Lake District this year. Your closest one is probably Hertford. There is a search facility on their website. They can be a bit expensive though.

I don't know if it offers much in the way of walking, I don't know the area.

The one in Keswick will meet most of your requirements, except the Indian. Food in the local pub is good though. Bit of a long drive.

The Mendips one had some nice walks, they sold a pamphlet in the campsite of local walks, there was a pub in the local village but a bit of a walk, we didn't try it. No indian either. Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole are close by if the weather is bad.

Another easy source of campsites is http://www.pitchup.com/.

LOL

If you really need to do ALL that to impress the wife....I really don't think Cali ownership or usage will be for you ........
