Hello all,

While generally checking various fuses, came across - I think a relay, that is hanging loose right next to the fuse box under the drinks holder. It should be attached somewhere, as it has two fixing tabs, but not sure where. Any ideas what is it, and where it needs to be attached? Apologies for the bad image, but that is the best I could get. Pretty difficult to reach there.

No specialist in electric but could it be just a lose connector used by VW to connect a pc or a car hardware divice ?
Not been looking at mine , it's a T5 .

The photo is not very clear, but does look a bit like the towbar electrics control unit - which is normally located under the front seats.

Do you have a towbar or has one been fitted in the past?

Can you get some better photos please?

Thanks Alan. The towbar was fitted by VW before delivery ... and that may give some clues. Here's a clearer pic with the part number and a clearer pic of the location and how it is lying around loose.

Can someone confirm if this is the towbar electric? Not happy if it is and not where it is supposed to be as I paid good money to retrofit the VW towbar from a VW dealer. If it had to be this shoddy work, may have had a better service from an aftermarket fitter.

PS: did search the number on it on Google, but did not get any firm results.

Ah , now with a clearer picture , it's plugged in something but come lose from the location where it's mounted .
I assumed you found a plug socket not plugged in . As the title alsonsays help identify...?

Not yet HC. I am unable to look any deeper into the recess. Planning to get one of those endoscope cameras to figure out if it fell out from somewhere ... but looking at the lugs, they don't seem to have been fitted anywhere. not a scratch on them.

As of now, calling it "the mystery part" :D

The only three "after"market items fitted on the cali
- towbar (not aftermarket, but VW item fitted by VW during delivery) and this part has VW written all over it.
- solar ... but that wiring is completely different and does not have any such part
- VB Air - again, a different wiring and does not seem to be a VB part.

... hence the suspicion that is something to do with the towbar.

Could have been moved for access when fitting the VB air system and not replaced.
If you undo the 4 bolts/nuts holding the seat to the seat base you can then lean the seat forward to rest against the Dashboard and have a good look around. You don’t have to release any of the cables to the underside of the seat, but if you do Do Not switch on the Ignition until re-connected, otherwise you get a Dashboard error regarding the Airbags.

@WelshGas , i think he means the fuses located under the dash .
There seems to be much more behind there on the T6 as in a T5 .

Aah, I see. When the OP started talking about Towbar module, that’s under the passenger seat on a RHD.
So, if it is the fuse box in the Dash then more likely to be the VB Air fitter making connections.

My mistake.

WG, my doubt is - it is a VW part and unlikely that VB would use that part. Anyways, an endoscope arriving from Amazon tomorrow, so should be able to look further and report more..

Thank you all for your inputs. The mystery continues ...

I didn't say VB used the part but that it might have been unclipped from its holder to provide access and not clipped back into position.

It could be this?

Good morning WG. Got it. Yeah, could've gotten unclipped. It is exactly that part that you've linked in your post - Seat heating controller.

Thank you so much for helping to identify. So that part of the mystery is solved. :thumb

Now to identify the location it clips on to. I may have to remove that front console to figure it out. :)

PA6 GF30 is not a part number, it’s related to type of plastic, it will have a VW par number somewhere, if you rotate it or unplug it, it will be easy to find in the VW parts system.

One part of the mystery solved. it is indeed the heated seat controller. Took a closer pic with the part number visible. 5K0959772A

A search for the part number shows that it is the heated seat module for the multivan.

Now to figure out its original fitment position. It should be somewhere near there.

Ok, checked on OEMPC, but unable to find the location of the real module. Can anyone help? Thanks.
