Dings in the side of your van

We're considering the chrome pack for our new Cali (even though the salesman has yet to fully explain what is included - if anyone knows the detail on this I'd be very interested to find out :? )

Anyway, taking the chrome pack means that you lose a 2" body moulding strip along the length of the van. We want the chrome but are a bit worried about removing the body moulding strip along the side as we figure they will protect the van from people opening their car doors onto our precious van. We use to have an MX5 that suffered terribly from this.

I would suggest using 3rd party vendors to supply chrome parts many of which just clip on or fixed using double sided tape.

We are going to have the side bars but I think that the swing of a car door will hit over these.

Are those stick on chrome strips okay? Maybe VW just stick theirs on too, but I'd be upset if I ruined my paintwork.

Yes, I quite often try to park next to a hedge or something too
