Diesel Heater Usage

I was wondering . A mate of mine has a T5 van and has just had a bespoke diesel heater fitted. He has been told it is good practise to run the heater from time to time when not in use. Does anyone else do this?

Yes. Monthly for an hour or so, as advised by the Manufacturer,. VW have no recommendations.

yes i run mine at least every 2 weeks my planer also has the option to blow cold so i can use in the summer as well

As with all mecanical/elecrical stuff , not using is not always good.
Run your aux.heater at high setting and ventilate if to hot , much better than running it on low setting .
You could start it up even when just driving to the supermaket , kids to school,....no problem
