Unfortunately the display on my 2nd central control panel is now almost unreadable! I have tried the repair as detailed in the forum below several times - but no improvement. VW won't help as the warranty has expired.
I am now looking either for a repairer or to maybe buy a reconditioned unit. Has anyone got any ideas/ contacts?
Thanks in advance.
Derrick

Plenty treads on control panel problems . Also treads on company's you can send the panel to fix it.
If it can't be solved by yourself as you say best to go to dealer.
You say it is your 2nd contol panel , how did it go on with the 1st?

Derrick, I would push for some goodwill before you do anything else as we have seen a massive increase in control panel panel problems each year so they know it is a known fault.

Is the control panel issue fixed on the T6?

Hi Hotel California, thanks for your reply.....maybe it's me but I could only find one recommended repairer, ES technical and they don't seem keen on doing it. My first unit had the same problem- horizontal lines disappearing on the lcd display.
Martin, thanks for your suggestion. I have been in contact with VW customer care, they do not acknowledge any design fault with the unit. Their suggestion was for me to take the van in to my nearest van centre (1 hour away) and pay for a full diagnostic and then they will consider my case - although he admitted it was very unlikely they would help as the newer unit was out of warranty. Good old VW!!

Just been quoted £755.79 for the part only. Anyone know anywhere which will offer a better deal?

How far out of warranty is it? I had a central display fail on a Volvo one month out of warranty. The dealer quoted £800. I rang Volvo customer services and they offered an 80% contribution within 2 minutes. Not sure if VW has such a scheme or you are close enough to warranty. Worth a go though.

Yo are joking i hope?

Thanks John I emailed before Xmas and they were closed. I resent my email on Friday so we'll see what they say.

Just into the third warranty year now - recently the panel has refused to access the roof pop up indicating that the ignition is not switched on when it clearly is and even when the engine is running - anyone else had this ???

cheers

It has been mentioned before.
Reset the Control Panel

1. Hold down the centre of the rotary button together with the menu button (button below with the squares on it)
2. You will get the hidden menu.
3. Rotate the rotary button to get to "VW diagnose" and select this by pressing on the centre of the rotary button.
4. If no errors are present it will display "no errors"
5. If Errors are present then a list of errors will appear. Make a note.
6. Press the centre of the rotary button again to delete all the errors
7. Repeat process above just to check that errors have dissapeared!
8. Re-configure the time and date if neccesary.

thanks a lot ..... gradually adjusting to the labyrinthine topic routes within the forums....

have yet to give it a try .....away for a week or so and will try and get into zen and the art of California technology interference after that - .... find that my morris minor era spanner based cortex becomes anxious when faced with circuit boards and strange messages on a screen - will work up to it and let you know how it goes ... thanks for your concern , the forum is extremely reassuring for folk like me....

Worked fine .... no errors and eve4rything seems to be working .... must have been a temporary glitch I suppose. Lesson for me is to be more confident about experimenting with the assorted technical stuff ...

thanks for the help folks

Final death throes ..... a few resets as kindly instructed above and the roof commands worked - put the roof down in the rain two nights back feeling pleased that it all seemed to be fixable with the occasional reset. Went to put it up again the next day to dry out and the panel is dead / blank/inert ... maybe some moisture got into it from the wet canvas though I would have thought the thing would have been designed to cope with that kind of thing.....

anyway still (just ) under warranty so back again to the dealer. If the roof had been stuck up though .......

now totally blank and waiting a warranty visit ... everything takes weeks doesn't it ?

Well it arrived back today from Vertronics, fitted it and all works fine. Total cost was £107 and the service was excellent. The delay was caused by my bank which failed/forgot to process the bank transfer properly. Payment was the only issue I encountered otherwise top marks to Vertronics.
