Excuse my ignorance, but what is different on a Berghaus edition? Apart from that badge near the rear wheel?
2011 Special Edition.
Volkswagen has launched a special edition of its famous camper van - the California Berghaus. Created in collaboration with the outdoor clothing specialist, the limited edition model has been developed as the 'the ultimate vehicle' for exploring and enjoying the outdoors in comfort and style.
The limited edition Berghaus model gets all the comforts that standard California models offer, including seating and accommodation for four, an electrically-operated pop-up roof, a fully-functioning integrated kitchen in the rear living space including a fridge and gas-powered cooker, plus a fold-away table and chairs.
The Berghaus model add a bike rack, a side-mounted awning, 18-inch bi-colour ‘Dakar’ alloy wheels, metallic paint, Berghaus-branded carpet mats and waterproof seat covers. Each vehicle also comes with an exclusive ‘Berghaus pack’ to prepare customers for exploring the outdoors in style. This includes a Berghaus ‘Freeflow 25’ rucksack, two sleeping bags, gloves, hats, insulated mugs, a travel water bottle, a flask and a map case.
All Berghaus models are fitted with the 2.0-litre BiTDI 180PS engine and a six-speed manual transmission, which returns a claimed 36.2mpg on the combined cycle with emissions of 205g/km. It accelerates from 0-62mph takes 12.4 seconds while the top speed is 117mph.
Priced at £47,995 on the road (including VAT), the Berghaus model is the first ever special edition California and only 80 will be produced.
