Hi all, we are expecting our little girl end of the month and are planning a 3 week trip around the UK in September our girl will be 4 months old... we think it should be ok but obviously have no experience in this. Have any of you people or people you know done a mini camper tour with such a young child?

Thanks

Ours was 9 months old on our first trip. He slept downstsirs in a travel cot while we slep upstairs. Worked fine with heater on low and window cracked open.
Hope this helps a little

Yes it does thanks very much

No problem. It will be a great experience! We’ve been travelling all around Europe form Italy to uk, forse the two of us then with the first baby (t4 cali) since she was 2 months old then with the second and they were 3 and two months and now we’re five in the t5 beach! Tetris organization, but nothing is impossible. And, much more important, they’re always happy to travel and camp in the cali!!

Cali is perfect for babies. Heater on 1 overnight, parcel shelf makes a great bed with protection all round and easy to set up a little monitor if you’re likely to be nervous. We used a video monitor on the first few trips so we weren’t popping back downstairs all the time to check. Soon felt it wasn’t necessary. Enjoy!

Thanks everyone for your comments it’s made us feel more confident in our travels, we can’t wait.

Its a great way to go on holiday with a young one, in fact, its the best way
to go. Unless you like staring at the four walls of a hotel room from early
doors instead of sitting out under the awning with a drink and food whilst your
offspring is snoring a few feet away from you.
Go for it, although you will find that they bring more luggage than you.

Thanks for asking @Billywizz
Got the same upcoming situation here and happy to read some experiences other made. Gives us (more me) some confidence to just do it, adapt and do it again.
Thanks again

Our two sleep better in the Cali than anywhere else. So much so we were considering making them sleep in the Cali on our drive!

I read the thread title and wondered if this was a new episode of "call the midwife" :shocked

So we did it: We tried camping for 2 nights with our 2 week old son and he loved it. Of course he cried at 2 am and 4 am however he also does that at home so nothing new. We slept downstairs and raised the roof for mire headroom. He slept in a small nest right next ro the tailgate, between us.

What helped us a lot was:
- The fact we stayed at a proper camping: all the facilities were there. Camping Alpsee Germany
- We love camping: Sounds simple but as long as we are calm and relaxed he act the same. And for him the most important: He wanted us around him. He didn‘t bother nice spa or bathrooms.
- My mum and her partner joined us for the time with there camper. Not with a California but with a „motorhome“. That was great and gave us twice the time to take a shower and pack the van in the morning.
- We had some nice neighbors (Cali owners)
- The heater was great at chilly morning and the hob/nesspresso saved us
- Our stroller can be disassamble pretty much to a flat board and a craddle so storing was easy

We try to improve/buy untill then:
- We would like to have some kind of a bag/tent to store the babygear (maxi cosi/stroller)
- We are looking to buy a Thule Chatiot to take him cycling around.

We are planning to go camping again as soon as possible and try to go for warm(er) places like Croatia or Italy. Hurray!
