We are going to the Ile de Re in July. I can't recommend any aires as we usually do the trip non stop. We are sailing to Dieppe in the afternoon this year so we are stopping here near Le Mans en route

Not stayed before but looks nice.
We did it from Calais non stop in 2013 and it took about 9 hours I think including several monster queues at the toll booths. Not recommended with young children (ours are 12 and 9 and come equipped with iPads)
The Ile de Re is great for kids,especially if you ride bikes. Our youngest did 16 miles one day when she was only 4! The power of ice cream......
It helps that it is almost completely flat and the villages are nicely spaced apart with cycle tracks away from the roads.
This will be our 4th visit and second with the van. Staying at Camping Interlude near Le Bois.
