Doors lock after unlocking if keys not put in ignition

When I unlock and open the drivers door, if I don t switch on the ignition, the van tries to lock again after approx 15 seconds, then the alarm will trigger if I don't hit unlock again. Faulty drivers door lock do you think? Any ideas / thoughts gratefully received. thanks

Does the door show as open on the screen? Faulty door sensor perhaps?

Faulty definitely, as above does door show open etc

Most likely the lock mechanism not necessarily the drivers door !

How old is the Van ? Warranty?

When you lock the Van does the red LED on the drivers door flash rapidly for about six turns then go straight into the intermittent flash ?
If not there is an issue with the lock - search my other posts for further info (I’m away ATM)

to test : Lock the van whilst you are in it , can you open the doors (all of them) , if so the one you can open is probably the faulty lock

Hi. Van is a 2009. No warranty any more. I will do some investigation this weekend. It does seem as though it seems to revolve around the drivers door. Open the sliding door and passenger door, van doesn’t seem to misbehave.

As well as the Red flashing LED on drivers door , When you open the doors individually does the Hazard button illuminate? ( opening each door should illuminate the hazard button, even the slider) I would suspect a faulty lock is causing the issue.
Do you know anyone with VCDS tool or search tinternet , usually someone local will be advertising their VCDS for hire or a VAG Indi specialist will have the Diagnostic tools required.

Somewhere you can set it to random lock. It will do it anyway . It does what it wants. I always have the key on me and keep one in a lockbox attached to the bike rack.

Update. After reading your comments, (many thanks for them,) I have come up with the following. LED on the dash notifying there is a door open will only light up when rear doors, sliding door or passenger door is open. It does not read the drivers door as being open. This seems to point to the door contact for the drivers door being faulty. Am I correct in saying this is a complete door lock / latch mech change? I believe the read contacts are in the latch aren't they? Unlike older vehicles that had a separate PIN switch in the door.
This is now understandable why the van tries to lock itself if only the drivers door is opened as it doesn't see that a door has been opened.

Complete door lock, doesn’t have to be from a VW Dealer £££££ VW OEM locks do fail (I’ve had several VW vans and multiple locks fail)

Motor factors or Tinternet if you can change it yourself if not local garage (easy job )

Drivers Door Lock mechanism / Switch

Drivers door sensor not working, doesn't show that the door is open on the dash so the van locks the doors on the timer - dangerous for locking keys in the van. Tried WD40 on the catch, no point, didn't work. Bought new mechanism off ebay and fitted it today. Top tip, buy some multi spline bits...
