BREXIT... effect on travelling

We live in Wales so the National dish is Lava-bread and cockles..Just because you live or visit a country doesn’t mean you have to like or eat their food..I don’t personally like snails or frogs legs but do accept that some people love them..

Speeding UK drivers to evade fines in EU

Many British motorists caught speeding in Europe will evade fines because information sharing agreements have ceased post-Brexit.
The EU’s Cross-Border Enforcement Directive no longer applies, French officials have said, so British-registered vehicles will no longer be sent fines for offences detected by roadside cameras. Similarly, motorists with vehicles registered in the EU caught speeding in Britain will not be sent fines.
More than 444,000 British motorists were fined for offences detected by cameras in France last year. It will cost the French £60 million a year when traffic from British motorists returns to pre-Covid levels.

I am too and although my father was partial to a bit of fried seaweed with his breakfast eggs I always thought it looked like something the cat had coughed up and probably tasted like it too.

BTW it's usually spelt "laverbread" (bara lawr, not to be confused with bara brith which is edible and indeed quite tasty).

Laverbread cooked in bacon fat , one of my favourites.

Or a fresh cow pat. I have only tried it once and that was once too many.

I think at the moment no one really knows.

However my threepeneth...

All European Insurance may well go up in due course. That is vehicle insurance that covers Europe and specific long therm travel insurance for Europe, although there should be no increases for the rest of the world cover.

Breakdown cover abroad will increase, I guess, but I don't think UK cover will change much.

The EU Health card will not be valid once we leave, so there will be a cost involved here if you want cover in Europe.

All guess work, so time will tell if any of these guesses come true.

The new Global Heath Insurance Card (GHIC) is now up and running, essentially the same as the old EHIC. Free to obtain from the NHS.

When to apply for a GHIC

UK-issued European Health Insurance Cards (EHICs) are still valid and offer the same cover as GHICs in the EU.

Once your EHIC has expired, you’ll be able to replace it with a GHIC.

You can get a provisional replacement certificate (PRC) if you need treatment abroad and do not have a card.

Most people can apply for a GHIC online, but some people need to apply by post. See the section below about Who can get a GHIC.

Beware of unofficial websites, which may charge if you apply through them. An EHIC or GHIC is free of charge.

Your card will normally arrive within 10 days.

Except no cover for Norway, Lichtenstein or Norway as we had with the EHIC, odd and to me a pointless expensive rebrand with less benefit

Ironically you mentioned countries just like the UK that are not members of the EU, probably also not included in roaming fee concession, I was stung in Switzerland last year by my provider. Still lets not look on the bright side of life hey.

Yes that's what’s odd, the non EU ststes not included, although talks continue with Norway

Why do I need to fallout of a tree in Lichenstein? Where is it, anyway?

Lichtenstein is one of just two “double landlocked” countries in the world. Without looking at an atlas (or searching Google) which is the other.

*double landlocked - only bordered by landlocked countries.

If you're going to go to /pass through Lichtenstien check if its included on your Green Card. It wasn't with LV last year so I had to get them to write a specific letter of approval!!

Spain & Portugal have the only ‘zip wire ‘ in the world that passes between two countries.....between San Lucar & Alcoutim where I live most of the year. Get chucked off in Spain & arrive 59 minutes earlier in Portugal.

The other one I know well, as would anyone following the Silk Road :)

Kyrgistan?

Uzbekistan: It is surrounded by five landlocked countries: Kazakhstan to the north; Kyrgyzstan to the northeast; Tajikistan to the southeast; Afghanistan to the south and Turkmenistan to the south-west.

Hence my reference to the Silk Road, Tashkent, a city of amazing cultures :)
