Hi All,

We are traveling to Misano San Marino for the MotoGP race weekend first week in September.
Starting in France via Eurotunnel Tuesday 5/9 lunchtime and arriving at Campeggio Paridiso campsite near Rimini Friday.
Returning back to the UK leaving Monday and Eurotunnel home Wednesday 13/9

I'm traveling down the east side of France, through Switerland and into Italy so need stops for Tues/Wed/Thurs night

Can anybody offer any advice for good overnight stops on our way or any other useful info please?
I don't mind deviating of the A roads at all but would prefer safer stops rather than roadside aires.

I have an Emovis tag for France but don't think this works in Switerland & Italy?

Might as well update this myself to help anyone considering a similar route. We actually only travelled through France and Italy in the end!

Tuesday drove aprox 4.5hrs from Calais to Parc naturel régional de la Forêt d'Orient near Troyes and an overnight stop at Camping Les Rives du Lac. Nice beachfront campsite, basic but with all facilities and fine for the one night however being on a freshwater lake we did have mosquitos in the evening so bug repellents were required.

Wednesday we moved on another 5.5hrs to Chamonix on the French side of Mont blanc tunnel. Amazing scenery and lovely campsite at Camping de la Mer de Glace, not the cheapest but clean and well organised with stunning views of Mont Blanc from our pitch.

Thursday onward into Italy through the tunnel (64 euros return ticket!) and a 5hrs tripdown to Maranello. Messed up a bit here as our intended campsite was unavailable so a quick scan of park4night found a quiet little site at an Italian Caravan Camping Club site near Modena. Italian site definitely seem more basic than French ones but fine for an overnight.

Friday a visit to the Ferrari museum at Maranello before moving on to our campsite for 2 nights at Camping Paradiso basic but pretty cliff top site amongst the trees and 15 minutes drive from Misano Circuit. Great MotoGP Racing Saturday & Sunday.

Sunday after the race we decided to travel back to France as we were told the Mont Blanc tunnel was closing Monday at 8am. In hindsight this was not our best move especially as they postponed the closure but once we set off we were committed.

Got back to Chamonix and wild camped in a carpark at Promenade du Lac des Gaillands which was fine. Toilets and lots of other vans overnighting.

Monday started our journey back to Calais and stopped over at Camping de Thoissey right on the the river Saone, large but peaceful site.

Tueday we went back to Parc naturel régional de la Forêt d'Orient and stayed at camping-lacdorient which was probably the the best site of the trip in terms of cleanliness and organization.

Wednesday spent looking around Troyes before heading back to calais and back home.

Really enjoyed our trip. 2500mls done in 8 days is quite quick but we were going mainly for the MotoGP so this dictated the pace. We did get a Critair sticker but didn't need it. Driving in France is easy. Driving in Italy especially around Milan is more challenging!

Hope this helps!20230906_163008.jpg
