What have you done with your California today?

Today I have done few more small upgrades ( to me anyway) I think all my tinkering is over now so need to get the Cali used for what’s it’s built for ….Camping. Off away next weekend for our 2nd mini break in Candy. I’ve felt lined all cupboard shelves, felt lined bottom of drawers, fitted a spare safe and put a new VW sticker on where the other had a bit missing. A very productive day me thinks

@Rømø in Danmark! Just survived a “storm” with wind gusts up to 50km/h. Had to close the roof, it was Just too loud. But it’s beautiful here!

Definitely helps with rattles and stuff sliding around. Makes a more comfortable journey.

Changed the control panel knob !
We do have the VW all in one warrenty but couldn’t get through to them that we only wanted the knob changed and they insisted on ordering the whole control unit, which is on back order and they’ve cancelled our last 2 slots we’d been booked in for !
Anyway the knob was on its last legs and I didn’t want to get caught short with the roof stuck up so I bit the bullet and changed it myself !
It was actually quite easy and works perfectly

Preparing it for a forthcoming trip to Yorkshire and Northumberland. It’s looking like we’ll be getting seriously wet. :-(

We’ve got our wet weather gear ready for many walks to many pubs :)
Stargazing at Kielder won’t be so good though.

Kielder Observatory 23.30 last night until 02.30 this morning. Unfortunately it was too cloudy for actual live stargazing but nevertheless the presentations and simulations were great. Mind boggling. Well worth doing and only 10 minutes from Kielder campsite.

Tywyn - recommend the fish and chip shop,
Môr Tywyn Quality Fish & Chips.

First long Lesuire trip out, ever in the 4M.
6.5 hour round trip.
The ride and comfort, power delivery, just perfect.
Managed 28mpg on AT tyres and fully loaded.
Not hanging about up single track hills, along A roads. Nothing more than 60 mph.
After 7k miles, seeing a slight improvement in mpg.
Slight hum from comforser tyres, but go round corners nicely, very pleased with them.
Couple of waves from 4 different Oceans.
Which was nice. Not a big waver, but wife was taking the mick with the Cali buddy’s.
Then said, it’s actually not bad there’s a good community feel amongst camper vaners.
I said exactly. She’s feeling the love now. :kiss
Thetford 345 a blessing when it’s bucketing it down at 21:30 at Clee Hill.
