VW T5 Roof Boards

Hi

I have a VW T5 conversion with an elevating roof. It has 3 roof boards that make the bed when the roof is up. As we are only 2 we don't really need this and as they are quite heavy I wondered if we could leave them behind. i.e. do they form part of the body structure. Any thoughts.

Hi graham do the boards slide and move :?: if so no they would not be part of the structure
My old t5 conversion had boards that you could take out and I agree are quite heavy.
I would leave them at home
