Hi everyone, (This is a long 1, sorry)

I’ve recently been gifted a new Pioneer radio for my 30 year old camper and I am trying to install it to no avail, I will attach pictures.

I’ve bought an adapter but I was hoping for some guidance in regards to the wiring already inside the van at present and hoping to find someone with experience of having done the same thing to a similar model.

When I got the van it has a Panasonic already installed which I assume was installed by the previous owner.

The first picture is the current wiring; the grey connector is for the Panasonic radio and the brown connector isn’t plugged into anything but it fits 1 end of my adapter(Picture 2)

Picture 3 is the Pioneer radio connector.

Anyway the golden question is I assume the adapter I have at the moment is incorrect for a successful pair up as it has 2 female ports and I only have 1 male connection (the brown unconnected connector in picture 1) the 2 male and female connectors of the pioneer and the apdater fit perfectly it’s connecting the adapter to the actual vehicle that I think is the problem,

(picture 4 is the work space I have to work with as I am trying to install this without ripping out the full dash port)

Can anyone make heads or tails of how I would connect this or am I at a loss here and should just return the gifted radio.

Any help greatly appreciated and sorry for the long winded ramble.

So did the old Panasonic not have an adapter harness?

Nip down to Halfords, they usually have a selection of harnesses. Just match it up to what you have.

Update @Ch1pbutty @WelshGas

So turns out the original owner has cut into wires to fit the Panasonic and therefore Halfords won’t fit anything with tampered wires, I was lucky enough that the store specialist was very informative in terms out how I can get it to work so I need to cut and crimp the wires on my adapter I bought to fit it into the original owners shitshow luckily it’s only 3 wires and seems pretty straight forward. Slight fear I make a mess of it though and then neither radios work (Lol)

That explains why the adapter won't fit. Good luck, I'm sure it will work out alright.
