Hi All

I have some Orbit white wheels from a VW beetle and have been trying to find the load rating for them to see if the rims are suitable.

There isn’t anything on the back of them to say the load, Ronal who make them say ask VW and my helpful VW dealer have looked through all info they can find but there is no mention.

Has anyone seen this info anywhere? Even Google has let me down!

Thanks

Rob

The last VW Beetle had axle weights of

Permissible front axle load490 kg1080 lb
Permissible rear axle load710 kg1565 lb

Hence the wheel load ratings would be probably no more than 96/98. Much too low for a California.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

That info was for the old old bug. These wheels are from a 2012-2016 Beetle

Load limit =1040 Kg front, diesel, but yes still too low for a Cali.

However, the ‘discus’ wheel looks to be the same as fitted on the T6 and Beetle….

So that’s why I’m looking for the actual load rating of the wheel.

Thanks

Rob

They do look the same. Very expensive but look great and can have the necessary load rating, maybe a call to this seller?

According to Pirelli, for 18" tyres on a 2020 VW Beatle 2L the tyre ratings vary between 94 - 98 so I cannot see the wheels being much greater than 98.

Disc wheels look the same for a beetle & transporter but are different part numbers and will have different load ratings. The beetle versions sell for about 50% of the price of the transporter ones.
A combination focussing on cost and emissions means there is simply no way VW would spec a wheel capable of carrying a 3 tonne vehicle on something almost half the weight.

Beetle part number 5C0601025BA
Transporter part number 7E0601025R Y9C

How do you find the part numbers?

I got caught out by this looking for disc wheels myself.
If you search for “vw disc wheel” on eBay the beetle and transporter ones come up. Some sellers list the OEM part numbers.

Special series 'origins' released in France in 2018; I think with those orbit rims.
greetings

Edit: however they are hubcaps on 6,5J x 16 steel rims with 20 holes

Ok - so there are some California specific ‘orbit’ wheels - but I guess just like the disc ones it would be a different part number and load rating.

Thank you all for your replies. I can now firmly conclude the spare set of wheels for my Beetle should stay in the garage and not on the Cali !!

Now just to find a super rare French special edition set…..

Although they do look like wheel trims rather than alloys.

I’m now busy trying to find a brochure for a Cali Origins.

The PCD on the beetle wheels are 112mm the California T5/6 are 120mm so will never fit

I kind of like the hubcaps. Thanks for the info calibusje

You seem to be finding much more info than I can - any idea of a part number? (Wishful thinking!)
