Hi Dave,

I have spent hours trying to sort out this issue for our recent trip to France with lots of grandchildren. We finally went for the MFT BackBox.

You need to buy the tow bar clamp and the box fits on that. Two tilt levels clears the tailgate, but can be stiff to lift back if the box is full.
If you need a bike rack in the future, then this will fit on the bracket in place of the box. The box comes with LED lights and a number plate frame.

Not cheap though. Cost us €998.00 all in including €180.00 delivery. It took a full week to come from Germany on a pallet. A Thule system was about the same price minus the delivery cost and didn't work as well, to my mind.

Amazon do have them listed and the bracket is in stock, but the BackBox wasn't, and time was getting short, so I contacted the manufacturer direct.

Thanks for that.... yes, that is pretty expensive isn't it! Looks like a really nice solution though.

This does not meet your tilting criteria but I am looking at a BAK RAK G4 and Big Box as a cheaper (£380) solution to transport a lot of kit (Designated T2 Module 2) for the "two week" camping holiday rather than the normal travel lighter mode. Does anyone have experience of the BAK RAK ? http://www.bak-rak.com

It's an awesome board... I upgraded to the new 2015 version this year... It's even better!

I also upgraded to a 2015....better performance.....bit of a harder ride

Yes, definitely not as soft as the 2012 version.... I find the 2015 has a lot more pop with those wider tips. I'd really like to try an ultrasonic...
