Is it worth it?
I didn't even consider it but dealer put it in stating that insurance company would want one.
Worth getting original one or can get better one later?

Very strange that an alarm is not standard on the T6. It was on the T5, or this just a country thing?
The T5 alarm was Thatcham 1, basically needed by all Insurers in UK.
Immobilised engine.
Anti tow
Anti lift
Internal movement alarm that can be disabled when camping.
Central locking + Deadlock which can be disabled when camping.
Alarm Sounder
If VW towbar fitted and coded correctly then if trailer attached then alarm will sound if vehicle locked and alarmed when trailer unhitched.

Is it worth it where you are? Only you can decide that, but a word of warning. Fitting an aftermarket alarm system and coding it to the vehicles computer module to give some of the above functions needs a good technician.

Pretty sure an alarm is standard. This is a direct quote from the VW website spec list:

  • Anti-theft alarm system and immobiliser - Thatcham Category 1 alarm system with passenger compartment control in cab, back-up horn and tow-away protection

That is in the UK spec, but the OP was from outside the UK, so could be different.
