Storage area on dashboard

The small storage area above the ‘coffee cup’ storage . The pop up cover is not popping up . It’s empty so there’s nothing jamming in but short of forcing it open any ideas as how to get it open and/or fix it?

As no one seems to be able to help
me out with this where could I get a diagram in a manual to see how it is put together?

This shows fitting a Comfort Dash upgrade, might help removing the trim.

I had been hunting but not found this link. It gives me a feel for how to get in behind it.

Mine often doesn't close as the latch sticks open. Have to press the little things to release the button. Try pressing the button harder and in like a rapid sucession if you know what I mean
