18. Tabernas Desert - troglodyte homes, the landscape of Spaghetti Westerns, Route 66 pitstop

19. Palomares - undeveloped coastline and hinterland, known for 1966 nuclear incident, four H-Bombs fell from the sky (overnight by Beach)

20. El Chaparral - near Torrevieja to meet friends at their urbanisation (2 nights)

21. Alcalá del Júcar - to see town clinging to side of Gorge, climbed to the very top of Alcazar (overnight by river)

From Cambrils to home - by-passing Reus and Lerida to pick up the scenic N-230, then onward through the Vielha Tunnel and back to France

Interesting routes. We also take a month out in Spain each winter and have never thought of those tunnels. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you for sharing. Yeah, some of those routes seem to be off the tourist track and should be interesting.

PS: do share pictures. We lot love pictures.
