Side door Opening (Not)

My 2007 California electric side door will not open once unlocked using the key fob. The door is unable to be open manually also from outside.
I lock and unlock the van several times and the door unlocks and opens after some attempts.
Has anyone had this issue before?
The dashboard button does not open the door either when in this state.

I don't know if this is any help, but when we hired a Cali for a weekend, the door jammed open and wouldn't close. A good look and fiddle around with the lower catch mechanism (where the lower edge of the door locks into the catch) managed to release it, and it was fine after that. Maybe you also have something loose which means that the catch isn't fully disengaging. This was a manual door though, so it might not be of much use to you.

Mine needs a double press on the fob unlock button to unlock the sliding and passenger door. Then a single press on the fob sliding door button to open it.
