We take a 2nd folding table in our Beach which we use to cook on, wash up, or prep while the table in the sliding door is used to eat from. The folding camping table takes up a lot of room and is a bit of a pain to store if we don't want to leave anything outside on a quick stop.

So here's a bit of a test build of an alternative. I bought a Reimo telescopic folding leg and rail kit and attached the leg to a bit of scrap OSB roughly 600x400 size.

I cut the rail and attached to the side of a Euro box that lives in the slide out drawer.

Here's the table clipped in and ready to go

And here's the intended use. Also gives me a useful prep area on top of the euro boxes to the left.

And, quite by chance, it *just* stores nicely along the side of the multiflex, without snagging the slideout drawer.

I'll give it a try next time we go camping, and then remake it without a gouge in the corner and cover it with some vinyl. Hopefully this lets us leave the folding camping table at home. Should work as a wash station as well - it doesn't matter if water drips off this table.

Here's the finished version made from 12mm ply.

I made it longer, which meant some design changes.

  1. I used 2 legs to stop wobbling.
  2. I reinforced the euro box to reduce the wobbling. I used a strip of aluminium behind the bar on the inside of the box.
  3. The curved cutout means the stowed table doesn't snag on the seat in bed mode.
The table also fits on the shoe rack so we've got a kind of breakfast bar arrangement! The cutout works nicely to avoid the sliding door. Couple more pics on this thread

Great job! In theory could you stack the eurobox on another eurobox and have the table ‘freestanding’ outside?

Yes, good idea, that should work. I'll give it a try next trip.
