leaving for Hull ferry in a bit, off to four yearly vintage VW show near Hannover (Hessisch Oldendorf) , drive to event all day Fri!
mega event pulls worldwide visitors, all set in lovely small town. We cant park with all the hardcore stuff as we are now Darkside but we'll get there in comfort Hope to do the Hannover factory again next week!
Have Cali, will travel club class!

just back from 850 mile round trip
o god I love driving this Cali! so easy!
arrived on site 3 hours before the splits on the ferry with us! and 42 mpg cant believe it!

We have just returned from 2.5 weeks away in our 2001 T4 Cali, taking in Wolfsburg, Hessisch Oldendorf and European Bug-In in Chimay Belgium. We too sailed from Hull and had a great time. Hessisch is the best show ever! Went there for the first time 4 years ago ( it is only on every 4 yrs) and it is still something else, just bigger, if anything. 1300 miles, not a hitch apart from a temperamental alarm on one occasion. Great time!

We just got back from a month round Germany, with excursions into Austria and Switzerland. Managed to spend a great 3 days at the SudBayern Bus-Treffen in Kochel am See (Bavaria) - nothing more than a 'meet' and get-together, with over 200 VW other van owners. Every type was present, from early splitties to the latest up-market campers. We were the furthest travelled visitors (2,085 kms to get there), although we had 'wandered around a bit' before getting there, via Munster, the Harz mountains and Main valley. Met some lovely VW types - and promised to go next year!

Our 21 year-old Cali? Other than a broken alternator belt it ran just as a 2.4D Cali should - smooth, easy to drive and economical. Not worked out the figures yet (just got back at 1-30am), but better than 30mpg :clap.

Our only criticism - Stena Line, Harwich to Hook of Holland. Fares gone up, quality gone down, especially if you want to eat on board!
