Sounds like the last breath of a dying cow!
Anyone any ideas?
Mainly happens after a longish drive.
I'm in Portugal now so has occurred a number of times over the past 3 weeks.

If your out of warranty be careful of VW garages in Portugal, boy they know how to charge.....

Very difficult to diagnose from remote but could you clarify a little??

Dying breath - is it just a noise or does it continue to try and run on?

Run on can be very dangerous and is often caused by leaking turbo oil seals which allow engine oil into the combustion system. The final outcome is the engine will continue to accelerate until something fails. It's very difficult to stop unless you can stall it.

If it is a mooing noise then it is the Turbo Control Valve (N71) on the bulkhead. Easy to change (20-30 minutes) and the part is about £45 + VAT if I remember correctly.

Cheers

Just a short noise when switching off. Like a moo sound. Do I need to replace before trip back. If so any idea if part no. In Jerez now.

Should be ok to be honest, wouldn't have thought it would cause any damage.

cheers

Is it N71 ?, because I have the same fault and i've been told it's the N75 valve.

I need to clarify this before I order one

Thanks
