Norway - avoid unless you are wealthy

Horrifically expensive. Do not come here unless either

1 you do not need to eat or drink anything or
2 you do not mind paying between 2 and 4 times what stuff costs in the uk.

Bars and eating out ferociously expensive - beer is £7 to £8 a pint. Even the supermarkets are expensive. Only fuel costs seem in accord with European norms.

Oh dear - I was thinking of a trip through Denmark, up Sweden and back down through Norway this summer or more likely next.

At a large supermarket outside of Bergen ...

500ml of basic lager at £2.60 a can
Loaf of wholemeal bread £3.30
Bag of 8 hot dog rolls £4.00
Pack of sliced cheese £3.70
Sausages, 800g £7.90

Don't even think about getting a taxi. They are about £200 an hour.

have spent ages looking at ferries to get there as visited denmark, sweeden last year and wanted to give Norway more time !

All the Scandinavian countries are expensive.....stock your Cali before you go.....and just buy essentials over there .....

I have a brother in law (and his family) near Stockholm and I've done a business trip to Finland - all I can say is if you do go, give up drinking. And eating.

Lovely places but I have no idea how they manage to survive out there.
