Noisy California Exclusive.

Here comes a long shot. I’m trying to diagnose a noise in my California Exclusive. It’s a droning noise that appears at around 40mph.

It persists with the engine off (when rolling down a hill) and when in neutral. Wheel bearings have been checked and all seems fine. No windows left open. Nothing obviously loose.

Any ideas welcome

Drive shaft universal joint.
Tyres worn strangely.

Seem to recall similar on my first 4. Rear tyres had a strange uneven wear. So, as above, worth checking.

Castellated tyres. The pads on the tyres wear in a sawtooth shape from front to back. How old are the tyres and how many miles.
Different brands are more susceptible to this.
