New T6.1 order delays

Did they suggest which options you need to drop to comply? 80 litre tank and spare wheel are the obvious ones, but what else?
Maybe VW will ditch the double glazing and electric roof soon?
Just spoke to dealer and he is looking into it and comming back to me in the morning .
To be fare Debbie vw chat and euro vans have been more than helpful
I had ticked every extra box so maybe that’s why .
Still disappointed though

The unfortunate thing is that you can't pick and mix to reduce weight. I asked to remove the tow bar option and keep the 80L tank. No dice.

I bet you are disappointed. So frustrating.

Did I read the 4Motion 204 will be 25kg heavier than the 199?
Wonder if its possible to go overweight with a 150...?

With all these issues, delays, regulations I'm concerned the 199/204 might be dropped altogether.

I‘ve been told that my order is not affected by the weight issues; I have both 80L tank and removable towbar specified. And steel spare. Dealer also said that only 1 of their orders had been affected which had 20+ options ticked. So not sure how that boils down but doesn’t seem to be as clear cut as 80L tank and towbar or bust.
Mind you I was also told I was build week 10 a fortnight ago :), then told build week 24 last week:(, and now told back to code 00 with no build week by VW chat yesterday:mad:. Unable to give any reason at all. Inspires confidence doesn’t it??

It does seem bizarre following seeing the messages on here I spoke to my dealer JCT and they new nothing about the issue and are connected to VW intranet so get updates all the time.so he has gone off to check into it. I also spoke to a dealer in Liverpool about a second hand Ocean he had available but it was no good for me and he also new nothing about the issue in fact he said as far as he was concerned everything was sorted on the new engine so no more problems. Frustrated I spoke to someone direct at VW and he confirmed that there is an issue but it does not affect every order but he could not be specific on what alterations may be needed without going through my order in detail which he will do in the morning and come back to me And let me know if there is a problem ...or not!,
there seems to be little communication between VW and the dealers...this is my first experience with VW as I have been a BMW man for the past 20 years and I have to say I am far from impressed with how VW work and look after their customers

The new 204 is 20+kg heavier then the outgoing 199 because of the extra catalytic converter and the larger AdBlue tank, be it 4Motion or not.

My Coast was cw50, is now sitting in Sheerness, since Sunday... with a transport order raised to the dealer (Breeze).
I wont be driving to Poole anytime soon though, but they said delivery on a transporter is a possibility.
Keep us posted please on transporter delivery we are not keen on delivery by someone driving the vehicle to us !!

Tonight I have been looking at YouTube videos of 3 Series estates again. Seriously thinking of pulling the plug on the Cali. VW are a joke in comparison. I’m getting really p’d off with all this uncertainty.

Not surprised but if I was in your shoes i’d probably leave the order in place and in the meantime keep my eyes peeled for a good secondhand Cali that met, or was close to, my ideal spec’ (or even a conversion!)

My only problem is I can’t pull up, make a hot brew. Cook a bacon sarnie. Then have a poo in the Bimmer. Well I could, but there would be a few strange look’s :D :D :D :D

I have to say, we felt like that initially, but having had someone drive and deliver our cali a couple of weeks ago, I can reassure you that it was a very positive experience. Friendly, safe and no issues with the vehicle at all.

Aww that’s good, I think it’s idea of someone else driving it first and it arriving looking like crap (cause let’s face it after 300 miles it will) just not what we hoped for ! Anyway we are once it arrives we could change that view just to get our hands on it

Latest from VW Chat. Lots of rejiggling going on behind the scenes. Telling that even chat haven’t heard from the factory since 11 January...

Thank you for being patient Tim. So I have liaised with our Sales Support Team and they advised me that the latest update we have from Factory was from the 11th of January, they have said that the build weeks were filled up to week 10 for Californias, but obviously it's been another week so this will most likely have changed again. They have queried with supply team today and have been told that this week orders' build weeks are jumping around a little because they are pulling back orders that have been waiting longest so some order's build weeks are changing while they get the vehicle in the correct allocation.

The guy who drove ours was at pains to make sure the van was left with us in immaculate condition - and he was particularly complementary about the driving experience which was a really positive start!!

I have just been sent this by Liverpool Van Centre, white, 150 Ocean, Nav Pro ready for delivery.

I’ve decided to sit tight and wait for my order as I would always feel a bit of remorse not waiting for the van I wanted.

That isn't going to be sitting around for long. It is Ascot grey, nice.

Latest update from vw chat for anyone else with a van sitting in the factory for longer than 2 weeks.

Mine is Week 49 build (30th Nov) so 8 weeks in the factory:

Thank you for waiting Lukasz. So I have just spoken with our Sales Support Team who have checked your order and they advised that there is a delay on your vehicle at the moment due to a component delay issue, most likely caused by COVID. At the moment we do not have a timescale for how long it will take however, they did say that they have started seeing orders from previous weeks moving through now, so it does look like the components are starting to arrive, and they will be working through the backlog of orders to get these done as soon as possible. Your order will be marked as priority so hopefully we should have a new update for you in the next couple of weeks.

I had similar reservations but this arrived today and everything ok! Dealer and delivery driver kept me informed process was as good as I could hope for given the current situation.

So Breeze have kindly agreed to put it in a flatbed and bring it up to Sussex next week, gratis. Have to say, can’t fault Breeze at all. Emma is a star! Such a contrast to
Othe experiences I’ve read about on the forums. Spent all day today trying to insure, roadside, away from House, no tracker etc! CAMC were the only people out of the more specialist offers who would touch it! £1k
Sorted now! Ready for delivery! Can’t wait
Brilliant , that’s a great service ! What your getting ? Is that 1K for insurance !!

Our new Cali, Garfield, arrived today as well. Bit of a different experience having it delivered to the door but feel lucky that it has turned up with all the difficulties others have been having. Can’t fault dealer or driver.
