New for old on pre-reg vehicle

Hello All

I have just purchased a pre-reg California and am having problems with the "new for old' cover that most campervan insurance companies offer. Basically it seems that this cover does not apply for pre-registered vehicles, since you are the 2nd name on the log book.

I have tried quite a few companies - Comfort, Motorhome Facts, Safeguard and the answer is always that they don't do new for old cover unless you are the first and only name on the log book. I have tried explaining that it's a brand new vechicle with only delivery milage but it seems it's case of if the computer says no, it's no.

Has anyone else experienced this or found an insurance company that doesn't have this rule?

Have you tried getting a quote for a gap insurance policy on it's own (separate MH policy for cali), lots of companies do it ??

Picked up the van today and as it happens VW does the Gap Insurance. £250 for 3 years which didn't seem too bad to me.
