Is it easier to replace whole awning

Our fabric on the VW California T5.1 awning has completely split and needs to be replaced. We have compared cost of buying new material and fitting it to replacing the whole cartridge. It looks like roughly the same cost. Any advice out there, is it easy to replace fabric or better to buy new?

Someone on here did it a while back - bought and replaced the fabric. A search should bring it up. Yellow stripes if I recall correctly.
