I have just had this issue happen to me on a trip away this week.
It appears the internal handle operates the latch via a cable. The cable stop is mounted in the door panel and made of plastic!
My Cali is a 2009 and the part has not been available since 2016. Cheapest I found so far is in Estonia and 450 Euro!! More like a grand for a more local source.
Now, is it possible that the damage could occur while rotating the drivers chair into camping mode? I often do this operation from the inside and just unlatch the drivers door while being aware that the chair will come into contact with door. Totally unaware of how fragile this part is, until now. I fear this will need a bodge fix and will look at fashioning a new cable stop from bicycle parts and riveting it on.
The only alternative is if anyone has a source for someone who breaks Cali's that may have a door panel available?
Yours hopefully, neither Bo or Luke Duke.
