Spent a few hours improvising a unit to direct between approx 80-100% of the heated air up to the pop-top. As per the photos, the outlet for the cabin area can be opened or closed. I tested before I attached the ducting hose and would estimate 20/80 split, in favour of the upstairs due to the majority of the air leaving the rear facing section of the B pillar vent, hence using this outlet for the pop-top. I’m particularly pleased with the cowled vent at the top end of the ducting, this directs the air very nicely.

Now I have good idea of the specs, I’m looking at creating a V2 model, possibly CAD/3D printed.

Very neat :thumb
I haven't done it yet due to many questions, one being, why
can't it be done with the 2 1/2 inch pipe, like the ones Truma
use in the bigger campers.

Here’s mine. Plan to use it in North Wales this week if it’s really chilly.
The last photo (on the bar billiard table) shows the clamps I added to attach to the storage net rail.

@GrumpyGranddad , @Maxx - awesome work both.

@GrumpyGranddad - are you able to provide us with a list of the items and where you purchased them from please?

@Maxx - a custom 3d printed solution would be cool as well - something that can just clip in to the B pillar vent :thumb

Thanks

Nice work. I’m heading up to the Cairngorms at the end of the month, hence a little motivation.
Made ours a long time ago but only used twice so far. It is effective especially when combined with our Pucer pop top cover. Enjoy Scotland.

Hi @kurienp the piping, clips and top grill were bought from Amazon. The round to rectangular adapter was from Screwfix. I sprayed the latter matt black after cutting it to fit the grill in the B Pillar (mine is a gentle push fit and works OK). The wall plate that the top grill is fitted to was from Screwfix and cut to follow the profile of the grill on one side and then sprayed black. You’ll also need some long black cable ties to secure the pipe to the fittings.
If you don’t have the rails for the storage net in your Cali then you can dispense with the wall plate and clips and devise another way of attaching the pipe in the pop top.
Have fun.
Note: the pictures posted (in haste) are just for reference and not compatible ducting sizes. You obviously need to make sure all fittings are for the same size.

I intend to spray-paint it matt black too. I used two manrose round to rectangular connectors, which I joined using a small section of 20mm/20mm batton.

In terms of attaching to the vent, I’ve used self adhesive magnetic tape (polarity A&B) on the unit and around the B pillar vent, which also helps form a good seal.

Here's one I made it's HOT UP TOP with this
